UPDATE 8 27th March 2020

Dear parents, carers, families and staff

I hope you are all keeping as well as you can. Families, I hope you have benefitted from the regular contact with your familiar staff this week.  It is lovely to speak with everyone, parents, carers, families, staff and even some of our pupils!

Thank you all for the tremendous effort you are making to interact with each other.  We are usually such an interpersonal school and I know how much we are all struggling without our usual contact.

With that in mind, may I ask you to reach out to any of our school community that you know, who perhaps don’t use social media, and invite them to join Facebook?  Our closed page is a source of support, ideas and friendship for everyone.

I would like to thank Faye Bye for setting up the HGS Distance Learning and Wellbeing Page, managing, monitoring and keeping us all together.  I know that she is beavering away from the early hours until late into the evening to moderate posts and keep the page safe.  Thank you Faye.

As we head into the weekend, I have been reflecting on our response to the crisis and invite you to give any feedback or ideas for anything else we might do to help any of you.

Next steps:

On Site Care

Our onsite care provision will open on Tuesday 31st March 2020, and will remain open from now on.  We will not be closing during the Easter period.  All communication will continue as usual.  Your staff contact may change but you will all still get calls at least twice per week. Thank you to all staff for your flexibility.

Distance Learning

Please do remember that distance learning resources are there to support you, if you want to use them.  We are not expecting you to provide any evidence of activities you have completed at home. However, we know that many of you are enjoying seeing how your child learns, discovering new resources and learning from each other.  Thank you for your photographs, film clips, stories, costumes, books, pets and so on! It is uplifting to see how you are getting on.

New resources for next week that you might want to use to support your child at home will be available first thing on Monday.

And finally…

It is ok not to be ok. You might be lonely, frightened, confused or vulnerable.  If you need any additional help, support or a conversation, then please do call me on 07551 256859 or email info@hebdengreen.cheshire.sch.uk.  Myself or a member of the SLT will phone you or email you back.

We are all going through this together as a team.  Please do not feel isolated.  We can get help for you if you need it.

I hope that you are able to have a peaceful and safe weekend.  I will be answering the phone and checking the emails all weekend if you need anything.

Remember if you need help with any of these things, we will get it to you, families and staff
