Welcome to our Post 16 Department.
Learners make excellent progress. There is outstanding teaching with a wide range of courses and activities. Learners have access to work experience and adult environments. This helps to promote outstanding personal development. Learners receive the guidance and support they need and are very well prepared for adult life.’
Hebden Green Post 16 department is committed to be a provider of excellence for students from all backgrounds. We cater for all abilities through our extensive range of courses and aim to equip our students with the life, work and personal skills they need to flourish in the next stages of their lives.
We encourage and support young people to be part of their community and to move on to employment where appropriate - facilitating this through quality work expereince, focused teaching on key life skills such as interviews and close links with other providers. We also ensure that there are clear links between the courses that our students want to study and the skills we teach here at Hebden Green.
We see our students as ‘whole students’, providing the best access to therapies such as hydrotherapy, speech and language therapy and physiotherapy. Our dedicated and skilled team of teachers and teaching assistants, mid day, general assistants and residential care staff ensure that each and every student has an individualised curriculum which gives them the skills and confidence to succeed in the wider world.
In addition we offer opportunities for enrichment activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, residential experiences off site and enterprise projects. We also run after school social clubs where we embed the life skills taught throughout the day. We work closely with parents and carers to foster close relationships and welcome them into the school both formally and informally through regular coffee mornings and exhibitions.
Our aim is to create a sense of community and a safe, inspiring environment in which to study.
